The Armed Forces Covenant is a national promise that those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, are treated fairly. Since 2011, thousands of organisations have pledged support—recognising the contribution that serving personnel, veterans, reservists, cadets and military families make to the workforce and wider society.

Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) — Our Journey to Gold
The Ministry of Defence’s Employer Recognition Scheme acknowledges employers who provide outstanding support to Defence people. Recognition progresses through Bronze, Silver and Gold, reflecting increasing levels of advocacy and alignment to the Covenant.
- Bronze Award (2024): Public commitment to Defence-friendly practices.
- Silver Award (Sep 2025): Demonstrated, sustained support for reservists, veterans and families.
- Gold (In Progress): Sector-leading advocacy, active supply-chain engagement, and measurable outcomes.
