Solar River Monitoring Installation Completed at Maltby STW
Jones Site Services & Installations recently attended Maltby STW to carry out specialist electrical works linked to the installation of two solar-powered river monitoring systems, helping support smarter environmental monitoring and improved site infrastructure.
During the first installation, our engineers identified that the cable route between the lamp post and kiosk had not yet been completed. Although a draw rope had been left in place, further inspection revealed a tight 90-degree bend within the duct at the base of the lamp post.
Using specialist equipment, experience, and a practical on-site approach, our team successfully installed the cable without the need to break out surrounding concrete — saving both time and additional civil costs. Due to the complexity of the pull, this operation required a coordinated three-man team.
Scope of Works Included
- Electrical installation for solar river monitoring equipment
- Cable pulling through existing underground ducting
- Kiosk cable entry modifications and termination works
- Junction box and connector installation
- Specialist adaptation within restricted lamp post space
- Full cable testing and commissioning checks
Testing Results Achieved
Insulation Resistance (1000V)
- L – N = >20 GΩ
- L – E = >20 GΩ
- N – E = >20 GΩ
Continuity
- L – N = 0.02 Ω
